WELCOME! This page contains useful information regarding our music ministries at St. Barnabas Church. Please check it regularly for new information and updates. Membership is open to all parishioners (including teenagers) and to the community-at-large. If you are interested in joining any of our ministries, please contact Paul Roy, Director of Music, at the church office (206) 842-5601 ext. 4.Attendance at all scheduled rehearsals and services is required. If you know in advance that you will be unable to attend a rehearsal and/or service, please fill out an "Absence Form" found in the choir room cabinet, upper left-hand drawer. Leave your form on the choir room piano or place it in Paul Roy's mailbox located near the office area. You may also email him or leave a message at (206) 842-5601 ext. 4. Please aim for 80% attendance during the choir season. ST. BARNABAS INSTRUMENTALISTS: Depending on the repertoire chosen for a Sunday Eucharist, instrumentalists will be scheduled as needed. If you are contacted and available to play on a particular Sunday, please attend Wednesday evening rehearsal prior to that Sunday. Rehearsals are scheduled on Wednesday evenings (September thru May) beginning September 3rd, 2008 from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the choir room. "Socials" are scheduled at various times throughout the season. We sing on Sunday mornings (September thru May) beginning September 7th, 2008. "Warm-ups" in the church begin at 9:15 a.m. Eucharist begins at 10:00 a.m. The Choir also sings at other special services, such as Evensong, throughout the season. These dates are posted in advance on the web choir calendar page. Please arrive on time for vocal warm-ups. They help get your voice in shape and also helps build a blended choral sound. Arrangements may also be made for those interested in brushing up on music reading skills. Vocal production techniques are covered during rehearsals. Members are assigned a number for both music and choir robe. The "black" folder holds music for current and upcoming services. We learn/review anthems within 6 to 8 rehearsals before they are sung. If you need to take your music home, please remove music from your "black" folder and place it in a "Take Out" folder located on the red storage trunk in the hallway. Music is returned after the service by placing your "black" folder back in your assigned slot.
