Greeting our Afghan Brothers and Sisters on their Journey
Our diocese offered a webinar on Afghan refugee resettlement on August 31. Attendees learned so much in one short hour. Did you know the diocese has had a refugee program for 40 years? Did you know that the diocese committed to helping 235 refugees in 2021-22 and that we are now helping an additional 105 Afghan refugees? The programs that are offered by the diocesan Refugee Resettlement Office (RRO) strive to consider the whole person, whole family, whole community.
You can view the webinar and meet some of the amazing individuals that work on the program by clicking (ctrl+click) the link to the recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vrzg1wNE5eA
During the webinar, team members tell us about their jobs and give us insight into how we might help. There are many varied opportunities to volunteer, from writing a check to tutoring English, to rehearsing job search skills—and so much more. Each of us has a chance to offer our own gifts in the act of genuine hospitality to people who are finding their way in a whole new world. If you feel called to offer your gifts, the need will rise to meet your calling.
