Created in the image of The Creator, what else can human beings do but create? To make sense of the world around us—the delight and the dread, the gifts and the grief, the faith and the fear—we talk, write, photograph, commune, sing, cook, dance, paint, pray…
We do what we were made to do. We create.
The St. Barnabas Gallery provides the space to explore the human experience and our connection with the divine, one another, and creation through the work of local artists.
Current Featured Artist: Melody Maleitzke
Melody Maleitzke is a collage artist who specializes in creating art using washi tape. She approaches her subject matter with the Zen-influenced “art of letting go.” By using washi tape as her main medium, her ephemeral art changes with the lighting, the angle, and over time gives into the truth that nothing is permanent. It is through this knowledge of impermanence that she explores the interconnectedness of all life. She hides messages in her works to draw viewers closer, to question its meaning, relationship to the image, and to discover connection.
Melody lives and works on Bainbridge Island, Washington and is inspired by the Pacific Northwest.

Hours
The St. Barnabas Gallery, located in the parlor of the administrative office, is open during weekday office hours and Sunday services.
Sunday: 8 a.m. to Noon
Monday-Thursday: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
