Our Barnabear group is the perfect introductory class to preschool. Teachers guide children through an organized and fun-filled three hours that includes lots of free play, introducing them to art, circle time, and outdoor play, along with a variety of other activities. Preschool concepts such as colors, shapes, and holidays may be integrated into the materials and activities offered to the children. Our goal in Barnabear is to help children feel safe and confortable in the school environment and build relationships with their teachers and peers. Barnabear runs for two hours, two days a week; and includes a snack time. The maximum class size is 8.
Children are not required to be potty trained to attend Barnabear, though teachers will work with you to support individual potty-learning development, and may ask for your support as needed. Children will be encouraged and supported in this area at school, with all–class potty time(s); with the goal of helping them be ready for preschool.
Barnabear 2026–27 Program Details:
Age: 2.5 to 3 years old
Schedule: Monday & Wednesday: 9 a.m.–Noon. A daily snack is provided.
Annual Tuition: $2,500. Tuition is divided into ten installments; the enrollment deposit and nine monthly payments of $250.

There are no hidden fees, and all annual and one–time fees are listed above.
Tuition is set on an annual basis and may be paid in ten monthly installments, with the first of ten installments being due upon registration as an enrollment deposit. Financial assistance is available; please contact the Director at 206.855.8969 or dayschool@stbbi.org. A 10% sibling discount that is applicable toward the enrollment deposit and tuition is applied to the second child in each family. Sibling discounts and scholarships are not applied toward registration fees, deposits, supply or snack fees. Sibling discounts are not applicable toward Barnabear tuition. State law requires that children must be 30 months old to attend preschool. If your child is not 30 months old by August 31st, we may be able to hold a spot for them to start in Barnabear mid–year. This availability is based on their birthdate and class enrollment. Please contact us to inquire about options for your individual child.
*While our goal is that children are independent at pottying before they start in Preschool or Pre-K; we know accidents happen at any age, especially when transitioning to a new routine at the start of the year. We will work with individual families to make sure their children feel confident and successful at school.
